Dunn School Achieves 13 LEAF Awards: A Testament to Our Commitment to Sustainability
As a leading biomedical research institute, the Dunn School is acutely aware of the environmental impact of its research activities. Initiatives such as switching off idle machines and lights, recycling uncontaminated gloves and masks, and reusing consumables have been successfully implemented. The Green Group has also organised and participated in numerous activities, including seminars and Climate Awareness Weeks, to raise awareness of these issues.
In October 2021 13 labs at the Dunn School were awarded LEAF accreditation, out of a total of 23 labs within Oxford University recognized this year. The awards were as follows:
Gold award: Freeman Lab, Hassan Lab, and Raff Lab
Silver award: Bharat lab, Carvalho lab, Cell bank/Washroom, Dunn School Workshop, James lab, Lea Lab, and Sanyal lab
Bronze award: Light Microscopy facility, Cook lab, and Ivan Ahel lab
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all the labs who have been awarded LEAF accreditation this year. We are inspired by the can-do attitude demonstrated by everyone who has participated in this green movement. We look forward to seeing even more labs join us in our commitment to sustainability in the coming years. Together, we can protect our only home, the Earth.
