Food Waste Recycling
Food waste is a significant environmental challenge that contributes to greenhouse gas emissions. When food is discarded in landfill, it releases methane, a potent greenhouse gas that contributes to climate change.
To help address this, dedicated food waste bins have been placed throughout the Dunn School to separate food waste from general refuse and support environmentally responsible processing and composting. Members of the Dunn School community are encouraged to use these bins for all suitable food waste rather than disposing of it through general waste routes.
The bins are easily accessible and maintained regularly during weekdays to support effective food waste management across the department.
This initiative aims to reduce the environmental impact of food waste while promoting a culture of sustainability and responsible resource management. Every correctly disposed food item contributes to a more sustainable and environmentally conscious workplace.
