2023 VC Awards: Recognizing Our Sustainability Advocates

We are delighted to announce that several members of the Sir William Dunn School of Pathology have been nominated for the prestigious 2023 Vice Chancellor's Awards. Each of these individuals has made significant contributions to promoting and implementing sustainable practices within our school. We applaud our team members for their nominations and their unyielding commitment to environmental sustainability. Their collective efforts significantly contribute to the betterment of our school and the wider world.

Wayne Swan - A founding member of the Dunn School Green Group and our Facilities Manager, Wayne has significantly reduced our electricity consumption by 30% through implementing sustainable practices. We commend his nomination which recognizes his exceptional commitment to environmental sustainability.

Clemence Levet - As Lab Manager, Clemence consistently pushes for more sustainable lab practices in the Freeman lab. Her nomination for the 2023 VC Awards acknowledges her innovative approach to promoting green initiatives and implementing sustainable lab practices.

Anne Hedegaard - Anne, a Post-doctoral Research Assistant, has been integral to several sustainable lab interventions. Her VC Award nomination reflects her dedication to promoting recycling and energy efficiency within the lab environment.

Philip Cobden - Our Departmental Safety Officer, Philip, has led various sustainability initiatives within the department. His nomination for the VC Awards underlines his successful efforts in implementing sustainable solutions such as OxWash and a bicycle rental program.

Jo Peel - As the Executive Assistant to the Head of Department, Jo's passion for sustainability extends beyond her primary role. Her nomination for the VC Awards is a testament to her enthusiasm and the instrumental role she plays in coordinating sustainability efforts at Dunn School.

Martin Smith - Workshop Technician Martin actively contributes to energy conservation and help in reduction of single-use plastics. His VC Awards nomination acknowledges his crucial efforts in maintaining our ULT freezers and help to set up a refill station for common household items at Dunn School.
