Promoting Pollinator Diversity: Dunn School's 'Bee's Hotel Initiative with Oxford Sustainability
The Dunn School, in partnership with the University of Oxford Sustainability Team, launched the Bee Hotel Initiative to support local biodiversity and the conservation of native pollinators.
Recognising the important role pollinators play in maintaining healthy ecosystems, the Sustainability Team provided bee hotels designed to attract solitary bees and other beneficial insects. Solitary bees are highly effective pollinators and play an important role in supporting biodiversity.
The Dunn School Workshop carefully installed and continues to help maintain the bee hotels around the department’s perimeter, creating safe habitats for pollinators across the Pathology grounds. Locations were selected to provide suitable environmental conditions, including appropriate sunlight exposure, shelter from wind and rain, and proximity to flowering plants.
The Bee Hotel Initiative reflects the Dunn School’s ongoing commitment to promoting biodiversity and creating a more environmentally sustainable campus environment.
