Recognizing the Pillars of Dunn School's Environmental Commitment
At the heart of the Dunn School's commitment to environmental stewardship are our dedicated cleaners, whose tireless efforts often go unnoticed but are crucial in our sustainable journey. Beyond the vital task of maintaining the cleanliness of our department, they've embedded significant environmentally-friendly practices into their daily routine. From managing both lab and non-lab areas to precision waste management, they ensure a safe, clean environment for our community.
One aspect of our cleaners' work that can't be overlooked is their meticulous handling of waste. They go above and beyond, emptying and segregating bins containing general waste, mixed recycling, food waste, and non-lab glass recycling. They even sort and correct any misplaced items, ensuring no contamination in our recycling efforts.
Further echoing our green commitment, our cleaners introduce sustainable choices by stocking our facilities with 100% recycled toilet rolls and responsibly sourced hand towels. The eco-friendly soaps they refill our stations with and the pristine lab sinks they maintain showcase their attention to detail.
Our 'sharing table' initiative, an emblem of sustainability at the Dunn School, thrives due to their dedication. They not only keep it clean but also ensure unclaimed items are given to charities, promoting reuse and community support.
Integral to all these efforts is Phillip Cobden. His continuous interaction with Cleaner Manager Shamis Hemed has been pivotal in aligning our cleaning processes to reduce the Dunn School's carbon footprint. Their combined efforts highlight that every role, even if sometimes behind the scenes, contributes profoundly to our environmental responsibility. We're deeply grateful for their unwavering commitment to a greener Dunn School.
