We are thrilled to announce that the Sir William Dunn School of Pathology has been awarded the Green Impact Gold Award for 2024, marking the second consecutive year of this achievement. This prestigious award, presented by the National Union of Students (NUS), recognizes our dedication to comprehensive, positive environmental changes throughout our institution.
The Green Impact Gold Award, the highest recognition under the NUS’s Green Impact initiative, celebrates organizations that demonstrate exceptional commitment to sustainability. The Dunn School is proud to be a leader in promoting eco-friendly practices within the higher education sector.
Vered Balan, University of Oxford Environmental Sustainability Programme Manager, said: “The awards’ haul reflects the Dunn School’s unwavering commitment to environmental sustainability and the hard work of everyone involved, and is a testament to what can be achieved by collective action.”
Green Impact is an award-winning programme that provides practical steps for staff and students to enhance sustainability. It breaks down the complex world of sustainability into actionable steps within departments, buildings, or colleges. Participating in Green Impact highlights the collective impact of small, sustainable changes, fostering a supportive community dedicated to addressing climate change.
Saroj Saurya, Dunn School Green Group Chair and Raff Lab Manager, remarked: “Sustainability schemes like Green Impact empower universities to lead by example, inspiring future generations and other institutions to adopt sustainable practices. Our collective efforts contribute to a sustainable future. We encourage everyone to continue their sustainability initiatives and inspire others.”
This award is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and passion of our staff, students, and faculty. Our journey has involved numerous initiatives led by our diligent Green Group, including sustainable laboratory practices and community collaborations.
We are honored to receive this recognition and remain committed to our sustainability journey. The Green Impact Gold Award motivates us to keep innovating and creating solutions for a greener future. We will continue to improve our environmental practices, reduce our carbon footprint, and positively impact our planet.
