Dr Saroj Saurya: Champion of Environmental Sustainability

We are proud to announce that Dr Saroj Saurya, Laboratory Manager at Raff Lab, Sir William Dunn School of Pathology, is the esteemed recipient of the 2023 Vice Chancellor’s Environmental Sustainability Staff Award. Dr Saurya, in her role as Chair of the Dunn School Green Group, has been the driving force behind numerous sustainability initiatives within our department.

Dr Saurya's unwavering dedication, perseverance, and boundless energy have set the standard for environmental sustainability both within our department and further afield. Through her tireless efforts, she has succeeded in mobilizing a network of colleagues across the Dunn School of Pathology, resulting in a collective achievement of 35 Laboratory Efficiency Assessment Framework (LEAF) accreditations and the coveted Gold Green Impact Award.

Beyond her professional duties as a Lab Manager, Dr Saurya passionately champions environmental action within and outside the University community. She has consistently promoted sustainable lab practices among colleagues, disseminated her insights through scholarly journal articles, and made her presence felt at relevant conferences.

Dr Saurya spearheads a plethora of events designed to foster knowledge sharing and encourage sustainable practice among the Dunn School community. Her dedication to environmental activism is a vital part of her personal and professional life, helping to nurture a robust culture of sustainability throughout the department and beyond.
