Eco Zone: A Space for Sharing and Sustainability
Located in a new space (311.30.33) near the EPA round room, the Eco Zone is a vital initiative by the Dunn School Green Group aimed at reducing waste and promoting environmental sustainability. This new location will serve as a hub for redistributing surplus items collected by Community-Wide Food and Goods rescue volunteers from local supermarkets and the community.
The Eco Zone offers a variety of items for students and staff at the Dunn School to take and use, including:
Unwanted items such as bread, bakery products, fruits, vegetables, long-life goods, clothes, plants, paints, flowers and other items.
The room will remain unlocked throughout the day to allow people to take items whenever convenient. Any remaining items will be advertised on the pathology social email list after 4 PM on working days, giving others the opportunity to claim and use them.
The purpose of the Eco Zone is to prevent waste by giving these items a second life, rather than letting them go to landfill. It embodies the spirit of sharing and sustainability, making it easy for everyone at the Dunn School to contribute to environmental conservation in a practical way.
This initiative exemplifies the commitment of the Dunn School Green Group to fostering a sustainable and environmentally conscious community. Every item shared through the Eco Zone helps reduce waste and supports a circular economy, one step at a time.
Stop by and explore what the Eco Zone has to offer—and consider contributing items you no longer need to keep the cycle going!
