Earth Day Celebration at Dunn School: Embracing Green Initiatives with Merck
On 22nd April 2024, the Sir William Dunn School of Pathology marked Earth Day with a dedicated focus on sustainability through a special Merck Exhibition, thoughtfully organized by the Green Group's representative, Clémence Levet. The event, hosted in the school's Combination Room, showcased Merck's commitment to environmental stewardship, as they pledged to supply green ethanol to the Dunn School scientists at a price nearly equivalent to that of non-green ethanol. This gesture was part of a broader discussion on sustainable laboratory practices, where scientists engaged with Merck representatives to explore a range of green alternatives for their research.
In addition to this, Merck demonstrated their support for the Dunn School's green initiatives by donating funds to restock and refill household SESI products across the Dunn school. These SESI products, known for their eco-friendly attributes and ethical sourcing, were selected to encourage the reduction of single-use plastics within the school. The initiative is a significant step towards fostering a culture of sustainability, aligning with the global movement to protect our planet.
The Earth Day celebration at Dunn School was not just an exhibition but a powerful reminder of the role institutions and corporations can play in driving environmental change. Through collaborations like this, the Dunn School continues to lead by example, integrating eco-conscious practices into the fabric of its scientific endeavors.
