The Dunn School Green Festival: Celebrating The Great Big Green Week, 8th-16th June 2024
From 8th to 16th June 2024, the Sir William Dunn School of Pathology celebrated The Great Big Green Week with a vibrant Green Festival, organized by Saroj Saurya and Clémence Levet of the Green Group. This week-long event was filled with activities aimed at promoting sustainability and encouraging the school community to adopt more eco-friendly practices.
The festival featured a variety of engaging activities, including a Plant and Seed Swap, where participants could exchange plants and seeds, fostering biodiversity and a love for gardening. A Clothes Swap offered a sustainable alternative to fast fashion, allowing attendees to refresh their wardrobes while reducing textile waste.
A Bike Doctor Clinic was also held on 13th June, providing free bike maintenance and promoting cycling as a green mode of transportation. Additionally, the event included a SESI and Ecover Refill Station, encouraging the reduction of single-use plastics by allowing the community to refill household cleaning products in an environmentally friendly way.
The week also featured Sustainability Talks on 12th June, focusing on sustainable suppliers and practices by Starlab and Appleton Woods, followed by a Green Initiative Tour of the Dunn School, highlighting the school’s ongoing efforts to integrate sustainability into everyday operations.
The Dunn School Green Festival during The Great Big Green Week was a resounding success, fostering a sense of community and shared responsibility for protecting our environment. Through activities like these, the Dunn School continues to lead by example in the movement towards a more sustainable future.
